Weekly Shonen Jump

It's Monday. Weekly Shonen Jump (週刊少年ジャンプ) comes out today in Japan. It is one of the most popular magazine, which has a circulation of 2.8 million in Japan. The first issue was released in 1968.

Which kind of titles do you like best?

Reading the manga is a good way to understand Japanese culture. For example, the hero of Naruto is a Ninja. A Ninja was a covert agent in feudal Japan. The functions of the ninja included espionage, sabotage, infiltration, and assassination. There used to be more than 70 groups of ninjas in Japan. Iga and Koga are most famous ninja-style. HATTORI Hanzo and FUMA Kotaro are famous ninja.

Manga is now an important part of Japanese culture. Many of Manga have been translated into many languages. Can you read it in your country? :D

Don't be HANNYA!!

This shocking mask is sold at the mall in Asakusa. It is called Hannya (般若). What is your first impression?

The Hannya is a jealous female demon. This grim mask is used to represent the malice or sublime emotions of human beings.

I tweet to women all over the world. "Don't be HANNYA!!" :-)
